In Oberammergau, visit the theater where the Passion Play has been perfomed every decade since 1633. In the Bavarian mountains, visit Neuschwanstein Castle, built in the 19th century for King Ludwig. Then continue to scenic Innsbruck. (Breakfast, Dinner)
A short tour includes views of the Wilten Basilica, the Golden Roof and the Hofburg Palace. The rest of the day is free. (Breakfast)
Travel through the picturesque Inn Valley to visit Berchtesgaden National Park, with awe-inspiring mountains and a deep glacial lake. Then on to Salzburg. (Breakfast)
See the Getreidegasse, Salzburg Cathedral, Mozart’s birthplace and many of the locations used in the film The Sound of Music with your Local Guide. The afternoon is free. Tonight, attend a You’re Personally Invited Dinner at a Gasthof – a German-style inn. (Breakfast, Personally Invited)
Start with a visit to the church in Mondsee where the marriage of Captain Von Trapp and Maria was filmed for The Sound of Music. Then traverse the Salzkammergut, a beautiful region of mountains and lakes. See Melk Abbey on your way to Vienna. (Breakfast)
Your Local Guide reveals the city’s major landmarks and palaces during morning sightseeing. Then take a walking tour through the oldest parts of the city. This afternoon, make a scenic drive to Mayerling in the Vienna Woods to view the hunting lodge where Crown Prince Rudolph and his young mistress tragically died in 1898. (Breakfast)
