This 10-day program highlights Samui Island (or Koh Samui), Thailand’s resort paradise located in the Gulf of Thailand. First begin with a visit to the capital city of Bangkok, and visit the magnificent Royal Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha, ride a long tail boat on the Chao Phraya River (‘‘River of Kings’’), and venture outside the city for an excursion to the world-famous Damnern Saduak Floating Market. Bangkok is filled with luxurious hotels, great shopping, exquisite dining options, and a vibrant nightlife. From Bangkok fly south for a relaxing six nights stay on Samui Island. The island is rich with natural resources, white sandy beaches, coral reefs and coconut trees, and is one of Thailand’s most popular destinations. Included during the stay in a half-day tour that visits all of Samui’s main sights. The main idea, though, is to relax, unwind, and soak in the beauty of the island. Pamper yourself at the resort, dine on delicious Thai cuisine, enjoy drinks at a romantic candle-lit bar, or dance the night away at Cheweng Beach.
Golden and glittering temples abound in amazing Bangkok, capital city of The Kingdom of Thailand. One of Asia's most dynamic and vibrant cities, Thailand's unique culture, charm, and renowned Thai hospitality are evident from the moment you arrive. A boat cruise on the Chao Phraya River, or "River of Kings," is a wonderful way to witness the traditional way of life that take place along the banks and small canals; while a visit to see the incomparable Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha is truly a highlight of any visit. When the sun goes down relax over drinks along the riverside, dine on a meal of exquisite Thai cuisine, enjoy Bangkok by night on a dinner cruise, and feel the pulse of the city in one of Bangkok's trendy bars or nightclubs. A shopper’s paradise, try your hand at bargaining for local crafts in the marketplace, and explore the chic department stores and boutiques. Don't forget to leave time to enjoy a traditional Thai massage during your visit.
About Koh Samui
Located off the East Coast east of Surat Thani, Koh Samui is Thailand's gulf paradise. Easy to reach, it is just an easy eighty minutes flight from Bangkok. White sandy beaches, tropical palms, clear turquoise waters, and gentle ocean breezes make it the ideal place to getaway from it all, recharge the batteries, and ease the mind. While Koh Samui provides the perfect place to relax, taking a half-day tour provides a wonderful opportunity to get a true feel for the island and to see it's unspoiled beauty. See the "Grandmother and Grandfather Rocks" on Lamai Beach, try a fresh young coconut picked by monkeys on a plantation, admire the beauty of Na Muang Waterfall, and stroll the shops in Na Thon, the island's main town. An option off-island is a visit to two of Thailand's most idyllic islands - Koh Tao and Koh Nang Yuan. Travel by speedboat to reach these islands, the picture card scenery will take your breath away. The crystal clear waters offer a perfect visibility of the marine life, and Muang Bay on Koh Tao, with its shallow dive site is the perfect spot to enjoy some snorkeling. During your stay in Samui, enjoy superb fine dining, authentic Southern Thai cuisine, and the freshest of seafood.
Arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport and transfer by sedan to your hotel in Bangkok. Thailand’s capital city, Bangkok is filled with luxurious hotels, upscale boutiques and eclectic markets, glittering golden temples, tuk tuks (auto rickshaws), a vibrant nightlife, and exquisite dining options. Few cities can boast such a dazzling mix of things to do and places to see.
Today embark on a half-day tour of the city. One of Bangkok’s greatest attractions is the magnificent Grand Palace, former residence of the Kings of Thailand. On the palace grounds is Bangkok’s greatest landmark, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The Buddha is carved from a single piece of jade and is one of the most holy and revered religious objects in Thailand. Afterwards enjoy an exhilarating boat ride along the bustling Chao Phraya River, and cruise through the quiet Klongs (canals) in a long-tail boat. Along the banks of the river is Wat Arun, the magnificent Temple of Dawn with its 259-foot pagoda built in the Khmer style. The afternoon is free to enjoy Bangkok on your own.
Head out of the city this morning for a half-day tour to the rural, yet world-famous, floating market of Damnern Saduak. Located 62 miles west of Bangkok, the market is bustling with activity from very early morning until about 11.00am. For those who want to buy some souvenirs, be mindful that you bargain!
