ITINERARY
Day 1 - Day 1: Guatemala City – Antigua

Upon arrival in Guatemala, your guide will meet you at the airport and you will be transferred to your hotel. After a transfer of approximately an hour to Antigua you will have the rest of the day free for your own leisure


Day 2 - Day 2: Antigua

After breakfast, you will enjoy a tour through the villages around Antigua Guatemala; where they will learn their history through ruined buildings, live culture and the incomparable view.
In this cultural tour you will visit: San Juan El Obispo (The first bishop in Guatemala founded by Francisco Marroquín), San Pedro Las Huertas, Ciudad Vieja (home of Guatemala’s former second capital, which was buried by an earthquake-triggered mudslide in 1541), experimental Organic Macadamia Farm, Santiago Zamora women´s cooperative and San Antonio Aguas Calientes.
The Santiago Zamora cooperative is women´s association specially focuses on showing to tourists their local daily activities at home.
The presentations begin with a demonstration of the local textiles you will learn how to form the threads until use the back-strap loom and get the final textile.
Learn how to do a cup of coffee from the seed to the cup. Dance local music with the women´s. At the end enjoy a nice local food “pepian” made of many local species and they add pork, beef or chicken.
Afternoon cultural tour in Antigua Guatemala, an effortless walking experience through the ruins, museums, monasteries, markets, art galleries and plazas of this colonial city.


Day 3 - Day 3: Panajachel

After breakfast, around 8:00 a.m. we will head to Chichicastenango (2.5 hour) to enjoy the multicolored ethnic market, where the scent of incense and the people’s mysticism promises a unique atmosphere, bargaining of prices, and a church with mixed Mayan and Catholic traditions. This is a market that every Thursday and Sunday appears and disappears as one of the ancient commercial traditions of the Guatemalan highlands and that now delights the visitors. In the afternoon, transfer to Panajachel. (1 hour).


Day 4 - Day 4: Lake Atitlan

This morning you will take a scenic boat ride across Lake Atitlan (30min) to the village of San Juan La Laguna where you can visit the women’s textile cooperative to see hand weaving and the natural dye process. Visit the studios / homes of the celebrated naïf painters, and the then continue to the village of Santiago. After lunch, you will continue your tour to the village visiting the Maya God Maximon and learn about the textiles, spiritualism and beliefs of the T’zutujil Maya.


Day 5 - Day 5: Iximche – Guatemala city – Flores

In the morning visit Iximche in Tecpán. Iximché was a Maya Cakchiquel city founded in 1463, less than a century before the arrival of the Spaniards, which played a decisive role in the Spanish conquest of this region of Guatemala. Then continue to Guatemala City airport to take your flight to Flores, Peten.


Day 6 - Day 6: Tikal National park

Today you will enjoy a guided tour thorough the paths and main areas of the most important city of the Mayan World. Here you will find that nature and archaeology are wonderfully blended. You will be able to see abundant wildlife, the Mayan forest, millennial temples silent witnesses of the birth and splendor as well as of the collapse of one of the most important civilizations in the planet, all this is in our visit to Tikal, The City of the Voices.


Day 7 - Day 7: Yaxha - Belize

Today you will board our bus and head towards Yaxha National Park. The series Survivor-The Mayan Empire was filmed in this beautiful Maya city. Yaxha is located on the banks of the Yaxha Lake; here we will walk through their causeways, temples and plazas, while learning about the fantastic Mayan history. After lunch, transfer to the border with Belize and continue to your hotel in San Ignacio Belize.


Day 8 - Day 8: Carocol Archaeological site

Early transfer to the Mountain Pine Ridge Area, drive to the Rio On pools and cascades where guests can cool off swimming in the cool pools or by sitting in their own natural Jacuzzi. After this exciting stop, continue to the archaeological site of Caracol the tour starts in the largest archeological site in Belize, covering 30 square miles wide, high canopy jungle, and includes five plazas, an astronomic observatory and over 35,000 buildings that have been identified. In the afternoon, transfer back to Cayo area.


Day 9 - Day 9: Aktun Tunichil Muknal (ATM)

Transfer to the Site, the “Cave of the Stone Sepulcher" is one of the most impressive caves in the Maya Lowland. Upon arrival, you will be outfitted in the necessary equipment for the Caving Adventure. First go through a 45 minute´ trek throughout the dense Jungle in the Tapir Mountain Nature Reserve and wade across three streams, learning about the plants and animals of the Jungle will be an important activity. Then you will be delighted with this amazing cave which comprises of a cave system with a series of chambers, ending in a 300 by 50-meter Cathedral where sacrificial ceremonies once took place.


Day 10 - Day 10: Cayo – Belize city (unguided)

Transfer from Cayo area to Belize City where you will take a water taxi heading to San Pedro Ambergris Caye for about one hour and a half.


Day 11 - Day 11: San Pedro Ambergris (unguided)

Free days to enjoy of the beautiful beach and white sand, explore the amazing crystalline waters or have fun doing snorkeling and swimming with the shark-ray alley.
Optional tours (not included):
Snorkel at Hol Chan Marine Reserve: Hol Chan Marine Reserve, Mayan for “little channel”. Protected as a marine sanctuary hosting a dazzling array of tropical fish. Shark Ray Alley, where you will see up close and friendly nurse sharks and stingrays. Coral Gardens, plentiful corals and colourful tropical fish. Snorkel with Turtles, eagle rays, nurse sharks and more.
Fishing: Reef Fishing
Hop aboard one of our 24′ – 26′ hand–crafted, Belizean–made boats and head to where the “big ones” are. This is fishing made easy. If you don’t know what you are doing don’t worry our guides do. If you don’t have fishing gear, we have plenty of rigs and one of them is bound to fit your hand. Your skipper will have everything you need to make your fishing trip a great success. Snapper, Yellowtail, Grouper and Barracuda.
Beach picnic and sailing cruise:
Climb aboard our 38-foot catamaran and sail the high seas of adventure toward the north, retracing the route of those who harvested the coconut crops for English merchants in the 1600s. Millions of coconuts were harvested each year and sent to England for their bakeries and restaurants. Just imagine pristine beaches lined with virgin coconut palms as far as the eye could see. It must have been something, huh?
Around lunch, your skipper will anchor near the coral rich Mexico Rocks; a popular destination that is perfect for beginner and advanced snorkelers. You won’t believe the beauty and color of this incredible coral forest!
When your snorkeling experience is complete, you will re-board your vessel to the alluring aroma of barbecue fish, chicken and shrimp, with all the trimmings, which will be served on deck.


Day 12 - Day 12: San Pedro Ambergris (unguided)

Free days to enjoy of the beautiful beach and white sand, explore the amazing crystalline waters or have fun doing snorkeling and swimming with the shark-ray alley.
